Maines Gets $1 Billion Darden Restaurants Contract

BINGHAMTON, NY, June 7, 2007: Maines Paper & Food Service in Conklin, NY has obtained an 8 year contract to serve Darden Restaurants as first reported by the Binghamton Press & Sun Bulletin. Darden is the leading casual dining restaurant company in the U.S. with 1,400 Red Lobster, Olive Garden, Bahama Breeze, Smokey Bones, and Seasons 52 restaurants.

Christopher Mellon, Maines President and CEO, told the Press that this was the longest single contract in the history of the business.

In the fall of 2006, the BCIDA board approved a sale leaseback transaction for an 82,000 square foot distribution center now under construction adjacent to the Maines Corporate Headquarters. At the time, the tenant was undisclosed. The new building to service Darden will be comprised of cooler, freezer, dry storate and office space.

At the time, the Agency also approved a sale leaseback for a nearly 80,000 square foot addition to the company's headquarters in the Broome Corporate Park. Together the two projects represent a $15 million investment in Conklin and Greater Binghamton.
